Jessie’s word search

Santa, Molly and Jessie like to sit by the fire on blustery fall evenings.  Molly knits stockings for the elves Christmas trinkets, Santa carves trains and Jessie amuses herself looking at the pictures in Molly’s magazines.  She likes to pull out the pictures and put them in a pile under the coffee table.  Molly found the clippings and put together a word search for the elf children to work on at the harvest festival.  Here is Jessie’s word search.

Jessie Bakes

Fall is here and the trees are beginning to turn colour.  At this time of year the restaurant chains come out with everything pumpkin and Molly feels like baking some sweet treats.  Molly pulls out her mothers old, worn recipe book and bakes her special pumpkin spice muffins.  They’re the perfect treat for a cold windy day and Jessie loves them.

This year Jessie is helping Molly in the kitchen.  She stood against the counter looking into

the bowl as Molly mixed and turned the batter.  When Molly wasn’t watching Jessie licked the spoon.  She wagged her tail furiously and bent to lick the batter from the bowl but Molly pushed her away so that she could portion the batter into muffin tins.  Of course she used a fresh spoon!

While the muffins were in the oven Jessie sat staring at the glass window watching them rise.  The hardest part was waiting for them to cool.  Then, when Jessie thought she could wait no longer, Molly gave her one fragrant treat.

Jessie loved the pumpkin flavour and gobbled the muffin up.   Then she stood waiting for another.

Molly smiled and waved her finger. “No more today, Jessie.  I’m glad you liked the muffin.  Everyone loves my mom’s recipe.  Do you think we should share with our friends?”

Jessie pounded her tail on the floor in agreement and Molly copied out her recipe to share.  Here it is. Continue reading Jessie Bakes

Jessie and Molly Make Candy

When Jessie, Molly and Santa go to visit relatives down south they like to go to the spring farmer’s markets.  They explore the carts filled with the early crops of the season.

This year Molly found a stall that sold honey.  Honey is one of her favourite sweet treats  and she purchased several jars to take home.

Once she got home she mixed a recipe from her grandmother for Honey Candy,

Jessie, always helpful, rolled the jar of honey across the table to Molly and sat close to the stove so she could be the official taste tester once Molly was finished cooking.

Here is Molly’s recipe to share with your family.  Make sure mom and dad help you with this recipe.  Honey when heated  can burn really easily.
