Jessie ducked as three zombie elves zoomed around her and ran into the bushes. It was the great Halloween party hosted by Molly and Santa in the North Pole park.
The event had begun early in the day with pumpkin carving, tug of war, costume contests and a scary face contest. The evening was later filled with trick-or-treating and a dance in the town square. Jessie, Molly and Santa were at the dance and Jessie was trying to avoid the scary costumes that surrounded her. She ducked behind Molly and stopped abruptly. When Jessie and Molly went to the pumpkin patch Molly picked up some pie pumpkins to make a sweet treat for Santa. Molly’s favorite pumpkin pie recipe is listed below.
Molly says it’s important that mom and dad helps you with the recipe as you need to use a hot stove.
1 cup pumpkin
3/4 cup white sugar
1 cup milk
2 eggs beaten
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
pinch of salt
Mix ingredients together and pour into a pie shell using recipe of your choice. Bake 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Lower to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 35 minutes or until the center no longer jiggles.
For a pie shell recipe
5 cups flour
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 lb vegetable shortening
2 tbsp cider vinegar
Mix first 5 ingredients together crumbly.
Mix egg, vinegar and enough water to make 3/4 cup liquid. Mix into dry ingredients. If the mixture is too dry add water a tbsp at a time until the pastry comes together. refrigerate for an hour.
Roll out pastry thin and cut into a pie shell. Cook as per recipe above.
